There is no blur background option in my pc though virtual background works and i have updated zoom on the latest version I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing.

If you are on the latest version of Zoom, it is possible that the windows device you are on does not meet the requirements:. If your device does meet the requirements, please verify that you are logged into your Zoom desktop client with your Zoom account.

I hope this helps! Hello ajaypande. I have a 2-yr-old Macbook Air intel based and another much older PC laptop. The blur option is available in the latter and I can’t get it on the Macbook no matter what I do. I can understand what I’m missing and it’s a little annoying. I have the same Macbook Air Intel Core i5 2 cores I have downloaded new app and new apple software and still no luck. Any suggestions Zoom? Is this not supported? Zoom client version 5.

Ah I’m not alone! Same, other virtual background all work but I have no “blur” option! Everything is updated! I also have a Mac Air with 1. Same problem with a macbook pro, everything is updated macOs Monterey I’m facing the same. I have a Dell – Windows 11Pro. Same problem with a Macbook Air, everything is updated macOs Monterey I am also looking for this feature in my PC because I feel much awkward to show the background of my room so just looking to hide it a little more please help me to do it.

Hi ajaypande jdott16 is correct you must have those device specifications. I think this meets the specifications, but still no blur option on my Mac Air. This is not user friendly at all.

I don’t have blur and have the latest Zoom and latest MAC software update. I even restarted the program and nothing. There is no blur. I cannot believe this fiasco! So many having the same issue as me and not a peep out of Zoom who has been touting their newest feature which doesn’t work!

I screwed around for half an hour on my Windows 10 bit machine, and all of a sudden, a pop-up, I installed it, and there it was! But I have no idea what I did to invoke it. Thereafter, I have been trying to find this patch, to no avail.. Time to move on to some other software. I as well am not able to see a blur option on my virtual backgrounds menu on my laptop.

I have updated Zoom to version 5. Would greatly appreciate any help which could be provided. Same problem You’ll then see the options available on your computer so you can use the correct microphone.

Check the audio settings in Zoom: Similar to above, if you’re not in a meeting you can open Zoom, open the settings and head to “audio”. Here you’ll have the option to set your preferences as well as test the microphone and speaker on your PC to see if it’s working. If your mic is too quiet, you can turn up the levels here. My Mac can’t access the mic: Sometimes your Mac might say it can’t access the microphone and ask you to restart.

This might then ask for admin permission. Entering your details can then correct the mic fault without having to restart. Ensure your PC audio settings are correct: If you’ve not been able to fix the problem through Zoom itself, then check your settings or preferences on your computer. Above everything else, check they actually work to help isolate the problem.

Background noise is disrupting the call: If there’s too much noise around you – people in the house, traffic noise, animals, aircraft, then consider using a noise cancelation app like Krisp. This can cut the background noise so you come across sounding clearer. It can also cut background noise from others on the call, so you don’t hear their noise either. Zoom has its own background noise filter too, which you can find in settings.

Otherwise the only sound people will get is that coming through your mic. This option is in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen share options.

There are echos or feedback on the audio: This usually happens when a mic detects audio coming from the speakers. It might be that the microphone is too close to the speakers, it might be that someone is using a phone and computer or that multiple computers are too close together. Muting the mic can resolve the problem or identify which participant s are causing the problems. No one can see me: If you can’t be seen – and can’t see yourself – start by checking you’ve started video on the call.

Press the button in the bottom left-hand corner to make sure you’ve joined video on the call. Most calls start with video off. Only the person who speaks at a given time should have the mic turned on. Sadly, that rarely happens. Read next : 10 Zoom tips and tricks you should know about. To solve this issue, the host can mute all participants on entry.

This means everyone will have their mic turned off by default when they join a meeting. This will prevent any possible background noise. You can do this by clicking the Participants button in the taskbar, selecting the 3-dot More option, and then clicking on Mute Participants upon Entry.

Throughout the meeting, it can be used if people unmute themselves and background noise creeps in. It also helps to avoid any circling sound or outside noises. Users should avoid using external speakers, speakerphones, or any other noisemakers. Is Zoom suddenly slowing down on you? One main issue could be your internet connection. You can run a speed test using something like SpeedTest. If your internet connection is acting up, your only solution is to move to another network.

Just click on the arrow pointing up button next to the camera button. Enter Video Settings and go into the Video tab. Uncheck HD. If all fails, you might want to try restarting your computer or reinstalling Zoom. You can also restart your router or disconnect some devices from your network and see if that helps. It will come; it may just take a while. While most activation emails are sent within seconds, some may take up to 30 minutes.

The biggest one is that group meetings can only last for a maximum of 40 minutes. After that, the system will log out all participants and terminate the session. Some users get confused after a meeting reaches an abrupt end. Free users can record a meeting to their device, after which they can upload the recording to Google Drive or any other similar service and then share it with others.

Sometimes we blame Zoom issues on many things, but forget about the possibility that the internet could be down. Try doing a simple Google search on the same device to see if you have an active internet connection.

If the problem is your Wi-Fi, try restarting your router and see if that kicks it back in gear. Are you still not convinced by Zoom? Improve and troubleshoot your Zoom experience

I have updated Zoom to version 5. Would greatly appreciate any help which could be provided. Same problem I have downloaded what seems to be the latest version, as no download came with the Pro upgrade. Called support but apparently Pro doesn’t include technical support. Extremely frustrated You do not need to have a pro account to use “blur background”. I see that no comment here has been accepted as a solution for this, so I thought I would weigh in! If you cannot turn off the green screen option for virtual background, then your computer will not be compatible with the blur background feature.

It is however an excellent starting point, and if your hardware is lower than the minimums listed here you will not be able to use “blur background” or “virtual background without a green screen”. Thanks Micah! I do see now the blur option requires a processor of i5 or above and mine is just i3. I don’t know why I didn’t notice that requirement earlier. Anyway, at least I have the explanation now. The processor being an i5 is only half the story, just as important is how old the processor is, how many cores the processor has, and what GPU is paired with it.

If the blur background feature is missing from Zoom, the most likely reason for it aside from needing a software update is that your computer isn’t new enough or powerful enough for it. I currently have the same issue. No option to blur my background.

And Yes I meet all the requirements to blur my background. I do not even have an option key to blur it, so this shows me it is an issue on Zoom’s end.

Hello ajaypande I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. If you are on the latest version of Zoom, it is possible that the windows device you are on does not meet the requirements: Image only without a physical green screen Zoom desktop client, version 5.

Hikaho Observer. In response to jdott I must have a green screen to use this option? I am still unable to figure it out. RonM Observer. I’m not able to activate Blur Background on my new laptop. That’s good information that it was working before. I had not tested that before updating a new machine to W So it might be that the only ‘fix’ that Zoom needs to make is in the condition for deploying the code that intelligently separates the presenter from the background.

Clicking ‘I have a green screen’ clearly disables that code, leaving a mixed clutter of background image and room features. So Zoom could cease to disable that feature just because a mix of hardware and OS does not match a particular recipe, instead just displaying a message that it is at the user’s own risk.

Do you know I how can down load Zoom to the new Windows 10 edge based search engine, the search engine will not let me down load zoom period, and I do not know how to find a workaround. The official Windows 11 release date is October 5, – so you may not see any specific documentation until then. First I must point out a major fault in this forum. When I opened the notification there was no prompt to sign in, so I thought that that was automatic. I wrote a long, and I hope helpful reply, and submitted it.

I was taken to the login page, logged in, and that reply was lost. The installation was prompted by launching a session. The filename seemed cryptic, so I hoped that your linked installer would solve the problem. It did not. Members of the ‘Windows Insider’ scheme have been able to install W11 before the release date. This is a cunning way to iron out any final bugs, using the help of those curious to see what comes next. Unless you have your new version that recognises W11 ready before that due date, there will be a clamour from those who have upgraded.

Maybe you would like to post a link to it here for the community to test. Can you confirm that you computer meets the actual hardware requirements for Virtual Backgrounds. Can you confirm that Zoom is otherwise working on your computer, other than Virtual Backgrounds?

I know at least one person running Zoom on Windows 11 – but I know they would not have been using Virtual Backgrounds. The OS was updated from W10 within a couple of days of purchasing. I have not yet noticed any other problems, having used Zoom for several meetings in the last couple of days. I Wanted to know if it worked with the Pentium Gold as I’m looking to buy a laptop with this processor?

My Laptop is a brand new one with the W11 update. Is just zoom, the one giving me the background issue. Other than that, works fine. Please, help us on this! I need to use the background for work. Thank you Rupert. I too could not use the virtual backgrounds but I installed Zoom again using the link you provided for the 64 bit and now I am in Zoom virtual background la la land! Thank you so much for providing the link. I am still convinced that somewhere in the code is a table of acceptable operating systems – and W11 is not among them!

Since this machine was able to jump Microsoft’s high hurdle to install W11, I am sure that it is not deficient. After installing the linked version and finding that backgrounds were still unsupported, I checked for updates.

That version was 5. I hoped that Mepemep’s success was because Zoom had slipped in a sly fix, but I was disappointed. I downloaded from the link provided and I was able to participate in my meeting successfully with a selected virtual background. As I was closing down the app I checked to see what version I was on and I noticed that there was an update available. I updated to 5. Yes, I am running Windows I also am a Tech professional so I know my stuff.

Zoom is working perfectly for me. Sorry that you don’t have the same experience. Help me! What did you do to get a virtual background to work on Windows 11? I was in touch with Zoom just today and they said Windows 11 does not support a virtual background and I should “work around” on another machine.

Not an option and Zoom is no help! Sorry Zoom but this is ridiculous! Especially for paying customers! So I am supposed to downgrade my system for a virtual background?

Doesn’t make sense! I thought that it was just the issue of W11 being left off the list of operating systems, but others have said that they have got backgrounds to work. I can only conclude that the restriction applies to machines with shared display memory, everything else checks out.

However features like eyebrow tracking work, which I would think called for more vision processing ingenuity, so maybe Zoom will get around to the background problem one day.

Are you having problems with static image backgrounds or with video backgrounds? I found that I can use static ones but not video. I am using Windows 10, but I wonder if the same thing happens with Windows 11, or if Windows 11 is more restrictive as to the hardware you must have for video backgrounds.

I’d be happy with a static image! If I select ‘I have a green screen’ that can be enabled, but all the background clutter shows through.

Check the camera you’re using: Just as with audio, Zoom will let you choose which camera to use. Tap the arrow next to the video button and a list of available cameras will pop-up. Check you’re not using a camera that’s covered or on a closed docked laptop, for example.

It’s also here that you’d be able to find virtual cameras, if you wanted to turn yourself into a cat. Confirm the video settings in Zoom: If you’ve tried both the above with no success, open the settings in the Zoom app and examine the “video” options. You’ll be able to see a preview from your webcam and select the webcams available. If you can’t see a webcam preview, you’ll have to check your computer settings and check your webcam is properly installed.

My video is blocky and keeps freezing: Many quality issues in video are because of data. That might be because you don’t have strong Wi-Fi, or there’s someone else using bandwidth on your connection streaming in 4K or downloading large files, for example. Try to limit other demanding services and ensure you have a good Wi-Fi signal, or a wired connection.
