I have novnc integrated with openqrm, I’m trying to connect to a newly created VM console. The error is: New state ‘failed’, was ‘ProtocolVersion’. Msg: Failed to connect to server code: Util. Error RFB. When I try with vncclient I simply get connection refused.

From the terminal the window quickly opens and closes again with no message left in console. When I use the wrong password, I get the message authentication failed. On the openqrm forums it was suggested that novnc is not accepting connections other than from localhost but I’m not sure if that’s true or how to confirm if that is the issue here.

The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:. Have you confirmed you have firewall ports open? Unless I’m mistaken you cannot connect directly to a VNC server with the novnc. You have to use a proxy, like websockify. If you have “telnet” you can test the ports like this: telnet [hostname or ip] [portnumber]. If it connects at all then you have an open port, if not then you need to open a firewall port.

Hopefully that helps you get this figured out. I’m unfamiliar with openqrm so if the above doesn’t help we’ll probably need more information about your setup and how you tested. Sorry, something went wrong. According to OpenQRM guys a vnc client on the local network should be able to connect to a running VM on its configured VNC port, in this case and not its websockify proxy port or I verified with netstat -anp that there’s nothign listening on the server on port so I guess that’s the problem.

I’ll let you know if I need more help with noVNC specifically. When I try to connect with VNC client from my pc or from a webpage I get the following output in console:.

Warning: could not find self. Netstat still does not show anything for , shouldn’t novnc start something for that as well? It can’t proxy anything from to if there’s nothing listening? Can you please clarify your situtation?

What it seems like, from what you’ve posted, is that websockify is unable to connect to This could mean that something is blocking this port, or that there’s nothing listening on the port.

Just to confirm: is Can you provide a bit more information about the rest of the setup? Yes, I think you’re right about nothing listening on , i don’t see anything with Netstat nor can I telnet from local host to Sorry about weird typos I’m on my phone :.

If you need any info let me know I’ll look it up when I get home. I’m sorry but lets close this. I’ve been having other issues with it not novnc related too and decided its not worth my time at this point. SaadBinShahid error is a fairly generic websocket error. There are all kinds of things that can cause this mostly configuration issues that prevent connectivity at some level. So the solution depends on what specifically is causing your problem.

SaadBinShahid that means that websockify was not able to connect to localhost Are you sure you’re VNC server is listening at that address? Skip to content. Star 8. New issue. Jump to bottom. Labels question. Copy link. I’d appreciate any help, thanks! Also I believe you need possibly 2 ports opened. VNC Server port Websockify proxy port If you have “telnet” you can test the ports like this: telnet [hostname or ip] [portnumber] If it connects at all then you have an open port, if not then you need to open a firewall port.

Thanks though! Unfortunately I’m not getting anywhere with this so far. I tried starting. I don’t have any firewalls at the moment.
